So this is from awhile ago, but since I'm procrastinating studying for some exams tomorrow...I thought I'd put them up now.
This was one of the first real meals that I made in my wonderful apartment I'm staying in for part of the summer up here in Boston. It was a very simple meal to make to make but very yummy! It worked out well for me as a quick meal after my annoyingly long calculus class that goes from 6-8:30. =(
I made a pasta with sauce, neither were homemade but I made a few changes to the sauce. The pasta that I made was a rotini primavera which was very delicious, I like trying all sorts of different types of pasta.
For the sauce I started with some Morningstar brand meal starters to add some more protein to the meal. I'm not a huge fan of eating meat so I tend to make a lot of vegetarian meals and use vegetarian elements in my cooking.
These meal starters are great for adding a little something extra to a meal, they're crumbles (that are something like ground meat) that you just have to cook up a little bit (to heat them up and cook them just a little). I heated them in the smaller saucepan with a small amount of oil.
Once the crumbles were ready to cook with I added the sauce. I used Prego brand sauce, the 'fresh mushroom' type. I heated the sauce up until it was a good temperature for eating.
While the pasta and sauce were cooking, I worked on making my simple salad.
For the salad I used organic pre-washed lettuce (because I am lazy and don't really have a use for an entire head of lettuce). I peeled and sliced a cucumber and sliced up a few fresh mushrooms. Additionally, I washed and sliced up strawberries which added a nice flavor to the salad, I'm a fan of salads with different fruits in them.
For the dressing I used Kraft brand raspberry vinaigrette dressing made with extra virgin olive oil with poppy seeds, I have been using that dressing since this dinner, I really like it a lot.
The finished product! Yummy salad with strawberries and raspberry vinaigrette and rotini primavera with red sauce.
